CFS, an Esports tournament based on the FPS game CROSSFIRE, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Since its launch back in 2006, CROSSFIRE has been ranked as the top online FPS game in China, Brazil, and Vietnam. It is loved by users all over the globe, and service is now available in 80 countries worldwide. 

For fans of CFS, Smilegate has significantly increased the overall scale of the tournament by increasing the number of participating teams and the prize money compared to the previous year’s tournament. With the growing scale of the tournament, Smilegate has launched an internal 

Esports studio for more professional and systematic operation of the matches! Smilegate Newsroom will offer you a brief look at the studio! 

2023 CFS Tournament Roadmap 

CFS, first held in 2013, is beloved by FPS fans all over the world. It has established itself as one of the most well-known global Esports tournament and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Also this year, a new studio was opened inside the Smilegate Campus to ensure more stable operation of larger tournaments such as the INVITATIONAL and APAC Series this year. 

With the opening of the CFS Studio, costs have been reduced compared to using external studios and renting equipment, and a more stable operation of future tournaments is now possible due to quick, real-time responses on-site. In addition, this studio will serve as a space where matches will be played out continually over time to build a more consistent identity for the tournaments in the long-term. The newly constructed studio features the latest equipment and spaces for real-time broadcast for faster observation and transmission of tournament information!

We interviewed Smilegate personnel who are directly involved in the operation of the tournaments about how they feel about the new studio. 

“As of now, we have successfully held the CFS APAC Series 2023–SPRING, and CFS INVITATIONAL 2023 Split 1, 2 at the on-site studio. Many people in our team have worked hard to build this studio and I am proud that we can operate more stable and complete tournaments after building this on-site studio. We will continue to work hard for the CFS to further establish it as a top-tier Esports tournament among FPS fans by successfully hosting tournaments in the future.”
