'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' Unveils 1st Anniversary Content and Milestones 2026-04-22

Smilegate has unveiled a variety of commemorative content and key performance milestones to celebrate the first anniversary of 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' (hereafter referred to as Expedition 33), a reactive turn-based RPG developed by the French studio Sandfall Interactive.

Expedition 33 has garnered worldwide attention for its world-building inspired by the Belle Époque era, stylish presentation, and reactive turn-based combat system. Since its launch, the game has established itself as a major global hit, receiving consistent acclaim for its original visuals, music, and narrative.

To mark the one-year anniversary, Sandfall Interactive introduced several new pieces of content. First, they released a feature-length documentary titled "The Making of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," documenting the game's development process. The video includes interviews with the development team and tracks the journey from the initial concept stage to its growth into a global success. Additionally, a new commemorative artwork by Art Director Nicholas Maxson-Francombe was revealed.

A free update has also been rolled out across all platforms. This update adds new hairstyles for each character, along with several quality-of-life improvements and stability improvements.

Post-launch milestones were also revealed. 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' has surpassed 8 million copies in cumulative global sales and was recorded as the most downloaded new third-party title on Xbox Game Pass in 2025. The original soundtrack has reached over 600 million streams on YouTube. It also achieved impressive results on major global charts, including reaching No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart six times and breaking into the Top 5 of the US Billboard Albums Chart.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently available on PC via Stove, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
