Smilegate Entertainment (CEO: Jang Ina) announced on the 6th (Fri.) that it had received a certificate of appreciation from the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam for its contribution to improving cultural exchanges between Korea and Vietnam.

The company received the certificate of appreciation as a result of its successful hosting of the CFS Summer Championship 2024, which was held for eight days from the 25th of last month (Sun.) to the 1st of this month (Sun.) in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam awarded the certificate after highly evaluating Smilegate’s contribution to establishing an esports culture in Vietnam and improving cultural bonds between Korea and Vietnam.

The award ceremony took place at the Tay Ho Sports Complex in Hanoi, the venue for the CFS Summer Championship. Director Choi Seung Jin  of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam attended the event and presented the certificate of appreciation in person.

“Over the years, Smilegate has striven to spread an esports and global gaming culture through CrossFire esports competitions. We would like to sincerely thank the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and CrossFire users in Vietnam for recognizing our efforts,” said Smilegate director BRADY YEO. He added, “Moving forward, we will do our best to develop an esports and gaming culture in various countries, including Vietnam.”

“Vietnam is a market with high potential, where the gaming population is as large as 40 million and the popularity of esports is very high,” said Director Choi Seung Jin of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam. He continued, “We will provide every support to introduce more Korean games to Vietnam and ensure that Korea’s esports culture becomes established in the country.”

The CFS Summer Championship ended on the 1st (Sun.) with a Vietnamese team, WOLF EMPIRE, winning the international CrossFire esports competition for the first time. The Tay Ho Sports Complex where the playoffs were held attracted an audience more than double that of last year. Viewer ratings of the competition also improved, and it saw the largest peak concurrent viewer count since VTC Online started CrossFire service in Vietnam. The CFS popup event zone opened during the period of the competition inside AEON Mall Hadong, a popular shopping mall in Hanoi, was visited by more than 5,000 people, demonstrating a high level of interest in CrossFire and esports.

The CFS Summer Championship is relayed in five languages, including English, Chinese, Portuguese, Tagalog and Vietnamese, and can be watched online. Details of the CFS Summer Championship and information about event viewing can be found on the official website (http://www.crossfirestars.com).
