Smilegate Entertainment (CEO Ina Jang) has revealed that the company will release a massive update adding new maps and various other content for the console FPS (first-person shooter) game CrossfireX, which is being developed and serviced by the company, and released a trailer for the new update featuring a thrilling battle scene in the new map ‘Babylon’ at a Gamescom event on August 24 (Wed).

The update was revealed with a promotion video at the Opening Night Live event of Gamescom 2022 held in Cologne, Germany, on August 23 (local time). Much larger than previous updates, it added two new maps along with other new content including weapons, mounts, and turrets. Various system improvements are also added, such as improvements to the matchmaking system function, control customization, and better aiming.

The new map ‘Babylon’ is a modern mode map that allows scope shooting and running, and players can enjoy a large-scale capture-the-flag map (15 vs 15). It is important for players to strategically utilize the ‘Massive Turret’ and other various mounts that appear in certain areas to capture the flag and dominate the map. Allowing users to directly select their respawn points during battle also adds to the thrill of the match.

The new map ‘Satellite Base’ is a bomb defusal mission map that supports both modern and classic modes. It features a simpler map structure compared to other bomb defusal mission maps and a fast match tempo. Also, the team deathmatch map ‘Submarine,’ set in a sinking submarine for a thrilling battle experience, has been returned to the classic melee combat match form (melee mode) for a limited period of time. Finally, the map ‘Transport Ship’ has been added as a modern mode team deathmatch map.

The update also features new content such as four new weapons, including the AP-45, 25 new weapon skins, and three new accessories to add more entertaining features to the game. The mission ‘Rise of Babylon’ in the new game will also be added, and this is expected to induce users around the world to take on the new challenge.

To celebrate this update, Smilegate will launch an event where it will give out free battle passes and a BP experience boost to all users logging into the game.

CrossfireX, based on the widely popular IP CrossFire, was the first console game launched by Smilegate. The game utilizes the Unreal 4 engine for cutting-edge graphics and an exciting shooting experience. Smilegate has released six content updates adding system improvements and new weapons since the game was launched in February.
