It’s May again, the Month of Family! Every year in May, Smilegate holds a carnation-themed talent donation event. Last year, employees crafted carnation-scented soaps, and the year before that, they made carnation air fresheners—all lovingly delivered to seniors living alone.
So, what was this year’s carnation gift? Let’s take a look at the donation event hosted by the ER Team and Heemang Studio!
Crafting Carnation Mood Lamps
When participants arrived at the venue, they found flowers, wooden bases, and glass domes neatly arranged at each seat—the essential materials for making carnation mood lamps. With excitement in the air, everyone took their places.
To kick things off, a floral instructor led a fun flower-themed personality quiz. Participants shared the results and warmed up by chatting about the flower that best represented them. After that, the instructor walked everyone through the lamp-making process.
Using preserved flowers—real blooms treated to maintain their natural beauty—participants began crafting in earnest.
First, they coiled string lights around a thick pen to form a spring shape and arranged them around the floral foam.
A carnation was then placed at the center as the main flower, with hydrangeas, greenery, and bunny tail grass arranged around it.
A message card was tucked in, and the entire arrangement was carefully enclosed under a glass dome—complete!
After finishing their first lamp, employees took extra care with the second, thinking of their parents and the elderly recipients. Each lamp was completed with sincerity and personal attention.
Soon, the tables filled with beautifully unique mood lamps, each reflecting the maker’s personality. One of each participant’s lamps was donated to seniors in the community through local welfare centers, making the event even more meaningful.
Delivering Warmth Along with Lamps
These handmade mood lamps, filled with our employees’ heartfelt care, were delivered to elderly individuals living alone.
One participant shared, “It may be a small gesture, but I hope it brought a little warmth and comfort,” adding, “It felt really rewarding to give something made by hand.”
We hope these carnation mood lamps bring a warm glow to each recipient’s room and brighten their everyday lives.
